We had the pleasure to work on two great websites for two great Companys in the last few weeks. Both DC Furniture from Wicklow and Reminiscence Ireland from Mullingar are very happy with the way their Websites turned out.

Working with DC Furniture we really were impressed with the amount of detail that these Kitchen Designers design their kitchens to and this also shows with the detail they had in mind for their website.
DC Furniture

Working with Reminicence Ireland was also a real pleasure. A non profit organistaion run by two great people with the Elderly peoples best ineterest at heart. We wish them the very best with there new venture and Ireland will be a much better place to grow old in because of Reminiscence Ireland.

Thats it for now,

I have being using Wordpress for couple of years now as mainly a Blogging tool. A very useful, simple and functioning tool. But in recent times, and with the newer releases of Wordpress it has become far more than merely just Blogging software.

Wordpress is now a fully powered and customizeable Content Management System (CMS). A CMS is a system built into the back of a Website, where the user can update and make changes to the website content themselves, without any further help from a professional. Wordpress ticks all the right boxes when looking for a CMS.

Advantages of using Wordpress as a CMS is that the Backend is very user frtiendly. Having used many differant CMS’s throughout the years, I can safely say that Wordpress is the most friendly. Also because it is Open Source ( comes from a large community of developers for free ) Software, it means that ther is almost an infinite amount of Support and help readily available throughout the web.

Another key advantage of getting your Web Design Company to develop using Wordpress, is that if you ever part ways with that company, your next Web Design company will already be familiar with the System that is there and will not have to implement there own system which costs time and money.

Facebook has made a few subtle changes to its design, which a lot of users have been noticing for the past couple of hours (thanks for telling us, y’all) and tweeting about. The two most apparent tweaks: the blue header bar now covers the entire width of the screen and rounded corners have been dropped from the social network’s web pages.

In addition, feedback on display ads has been changed from “Thumbs up/Thumbs down” to “Like/X.”

Here’s how the decision to drop the rounded corners, which were apparently subject to debate at Facebook ever since they were introduced a few years ago, gets explained by the company’s design team:

Since we introduced rounded corners to Facebook, their consistent use has been spotty at best. The corner radii vary, and it sometimes feels arbitrary which corners are rounded and which are not. Additionally, they add an extra layer of complexity to the code (note: IE, please add support for border-radius).

As part of the effort to simplify our visual style, the design team recently decided to go back to our square corner roots. In doing so, we hope to champion cleanliness and the razor cut look that Facebook is known for.
Had you spotted the design tweaks or did it take us to tell you?

Since the operation Ive being doing an excercise called ‘deep water running’. This is basically what it says. Its running in deep water. The idea behind this is that you work your muscles as you would running normaly only in deep water there is no impact on your joints, so this is perfect for me keeping my cardio fitness as well as developing lost muscle since the operation and aldo good for core strength and muscle tone!
You have to wear a thing called a floatational belt which keeps you afloat. You submerged shoulder deep and you’ve to try and mimic your own running style as it would be on land. Its very interesting and something different for me and I’d recommend it to anyone that would like to get fit and toned

Right well we are really beginning to get the ball rolling for the Red Cross. We are currently selling tickets for a Raffle taht we are holding on the 11th July in Tormeys Bunbrosna! Its tough times for everybody so its not the easiest task to sell tickets, but generally people realise that its for a good cauase and the prizes are excellent.

1st price :€2000
2nd prize: €1000
8 runner up prizes of €100.

Now thats good value!

As for training for the Trek itself, well that hasnt gathered all that much momentum yet. I’m only off crutches from a knee operation 4 days now, so Ive a big challenge ahead. The two others lads are flying though and it shouldnt be a problem. We’re doing a lot of stamina training. Cross trainer and rowing machines. A lot of power excercises as well, like squatting and hill running. So hopefully it will pay off and we’ll reach the summit of Kilimanjaro I’ll keep ye posted!

The Irish Red Cross is dedicated to the provision of Emergency and Humanitarian Relief both at home and abroad through its network of volunteers both nationally and internationally.

In Ireland, the Red Cross provides both emergency services through its Mountain Rescue Team as well as a variety of broadly-based community services including youthwork and care for the sick and elderly. Moreover, the Red Cross has secured both national and European recognition for its high-quality courses in First-Aid for individuals, groups and employers, which is based on its own extensive experience in the provision of First-Aid at both national and local events.

Overseas
The Irish Red Cross is active in emergency relief, post emergency and recovery operations across the globe.

This is achieved through the provision of funding and personnel as well as directly implementing projects and activities in a number of countries, primarily, although not exclusively, in Africa and Asia. Where we work Overseas

Vital life-saving operations have been undertaken by the Irish Red Cross since its establishment, involving both aid to people on the ground and where necessary, after transfer to Ireland. From the establishment of the St Ló Hospital in post-war France to the assignment of delegates to countries struck by war or natural disasters today, the Irish Red Cross has developed a history of expertise (Achievements / History) in the field. The Irish Red Cross was also the first body to run Government refugee programmes, which saw the transfer of large groups of people to Ireland in the fifty years after World War II. Today, the Irish Red Cross continues to provide a specialized Tracing and Red Cross Messaging Service to people whose lives have been hit by either man-made or natural disasters and who find themselves in Ireland as refugees and/or asylum seekers but separated from family, loved ones and friends.

The major priority for the Overseas Department remains the provision of both funds and personnel so as to allow the Irish Red Cross to respond effectively and professionally to emergencies wherever they may occur and post emergency recovery. In addition the Irish Red Cross has an important role to play in education and awareness as well as policy formation on International Humanitarian Law (IHL), the law that governs war and conflict. In 2005/6 the Irish Red Cross was and continues to be a major provider of funding and professional personnel to relief operations and post emergency recovery in Sri Lanka, Indonesia and the Maldives-following the Tsunami that hit the region on 26th December 2004, as well as responding similarly to other major crisis in Darfur-Sudan, Niger, Pakistan-following the earthquake of October 8th 2005, Malawi, Kenya and Ethiopia. In addition the Irish Red Cross transferred substantial amounts of funding and provided numerous personnel to assist with life saving and recovery operations in Beslan, Afghanistan, India, Palestine, Rwanda, north Korea, Iraq, Mozambique, Iran, Kosovo, Uganda, Liberia, Columbia, Indian Ocean Islands, the United States and Central America-Hurricanes Stanley, Ivan and Katrina as well as 9/11. Special funds were also earmarked for HIV/AIDS activities and Landmines Awareness campaigns.

For further details on the Overseas Department you can contact Noel Wardick-Head of Overseas Department, Colm Byrne, Desk Officer-Asia or Emma Mac Bride, Desk Officer-Africa.

For specific information on fundraising you can contact Liz Roche, National Fundraising Officer. All of the above can be contacted through Reception at +353-1-6424600.
